Action contre la Faim is a non-governmental organisation. It intervenes in 40 countries and implements nutrition and health, food security, water and sanitation, and advocacy programmes. On the international level, Action contre la Faim is also present in Paris, London, Madrid, New York and Montreal.
We are looking for: PSYCHOLOGIST (M/F)
Country: AFGHANISTAN - Kabul
Availability: Immediately
Responsibilities:
- Elaborate the new project for the support of child development through improvement of care practices, psychological support to families and breastfeeding promotion
- Set up and supervise the prevention component
- Technical expertise and support for the integration of the basic package in the treatment of severe malnutrition
- Train the psychosocial team and the others Action contre la Faim staffs if needed
- Facilitate the integration of care practices and mental health policies and skills in Afghanistan
Qualifications and previous experiences:
- Psychologist
- Knowledge on child development
- Ability to develop a strategy and to work in collaboration with senior partners
- High mobility is also appreciated
- Experience in humanitarian sector is essential
Initiative and problem solving skills:
- Working with all the different partners requires to be good at public relations, as well as mind-openness and diplomacy;
- Ability to capitalise experience and available information in order to become quickly
Autonomous;
- Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work.
Adaptability and flexibility:
- Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organisation itself
- Ability to work within a fluid situation (changes within the team, location of programmes)
- Willingness to live and work within a team and respect the rules of collective living
Motivation and involvement:
- Motivation and commitment to humanitarian ideals
- Interest in involvement beyond the job assigned i.e. active involvement in the ethos of the organisation itself
- Ability to integrate the local environment including awareness of political and economic aspects of the country
- Energy and stamina to withstand long working hours and often stressful conditions
Professionalism and Management:
- Ability to conduct work in a professional and mature manner
- Ability to deal with relations with local authorities as a representative of Action Contre la Faim
- Ability to manage local staff in a mature and impartial manner
Status: Volunteer
Length of the contract: 1 year
Personalised training provided before leaving on mission
All expenses paid in the field: travel out/return, collective accommodation. We pay the costs of medical insurance, complementary health, and repatriation insurance
Monthly indemnity: 838.47 Euros paid on a personal account
