Action contre la Faim is a non-governmental organisation. It intervenes in 40 countries and implements nutrition and health, food security, water and sanitation, and advocacy programmes. On the international level, Action contre la Faim is also present in Paris, London, Madrid, New York and Montreal.
We are looking for: URGENT NEEDS IN PSYCHOLOGISTS
Country: Urgent needs for various countries
Availability: Immediately
Responsibilities:
- Set up and follow up the Mental health activities in ACF programs
- Analysis of the social context: study and analyse the Mental Health and Care Practices of the populations, its influence on the care practices given, and their impact on the nutrition status of children, and, link the analyses made with the analyses of others departments (nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation, …) of ACF and other NGO’s in order to have a global view and better understanding of the whole situation.
- Training of local and international staff: detect the needs, set up a training plan, brief all the expatriates on the mission on the psycho-social activities, train the expatriates on the importance and strategy of the psycho-social activities already implemented or to be implemented.
- External coordination : set up relationships and co-ordination with national and international organisation working in the field of Mental health activities, participate in protection meetings, set up referral system for the beneficiaries according to the needs (medical, social, psychiatric follow-up…)
- Reporting: write a Mental Health monthly activities’ report, participate in propositions of framework of interventions for ACF Mental health activities and participate in donor reporting writing
Qualifications and previous experiences:
- Diploma in psychology with Clinical experience..
- Skills in child psychology, and social analysis.
- Experience in surveys and program definition
- Project management and training capacities
- Experience in team supervision.
- Humanitarian experience wished
Initiative and problem solving skills:
- Work with different partners needs good human contacts, open minded and diplomacy.
- Ability to capitalize on experiences and information, which are available in order to become self sufficient and autonomous quickly.
- Ability to take initiatives in order to deal with difficulties which are encountered in daily work.
Adaptability and flexibility:
- Ability to change the priorities according to the evolution of the mission or of the organization itself.
- Ability to work within a fluid situation (changes within the team, the location of the programmes)
- Willingness to live and work within a team and to respect the rules of collective living.
Motivation and involvement:
- Motivation and commitment to humanitarian ideals
- Involvement in the ethos and values of the organization .
- Ability to integrate into local environment and to be aware of the political and economic aspects of the country.
- Enough energy to withstand long working hours and often stressful conditions.
Professionalism and Management:
- Ability to conduct work in a professional and mature way
- Ability to deal with local authorities as a representative of ACF.
- Good knowledge of danger contexts.
- Ability to manage local staff in a mature and impartial way in difficult conditions.
Status: Volunteer
Length of the contract: according to the mission
Personalised training provided before mission
All expenses paid in the field: return tickets, collective accommodation. ACF pays the costs of medical insurance, complementary health, and repatriation insurance
Monthly indemnity: 838.47 Euros
