à SCOPE OF WORK:
• The Psychosocial & Child Protection Coordinator will be the Tdh’s lead Psychosocial and Child Protection representative in the country of intervention. As such, s/he will have a range of technical, managerial and operational responsibilities. S/he will be responsible for implementing the Tdh strategy and programs and ensuring that they are consistent with the overall organizational strategy. Close collaboration with other Tdh sectors will be expected in both the design and implementation of programs.
à RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate and manage the Tdh’s program aiming provision of psychosocial support to children/adolescents and enhancement of child protection in the country of intervention
• Work closely with the communities and national staff to identify psychosocial and protection needs and to define and implement relevant activities targeting children and/or their families and/or the communities in a natural catastrophe/conflict context
• Implement, develop and supervise psychosocial centres for children, ensuring proposed activities are various, relevant and culturally adapted (including according to the needs recreational activities, hygiene awareness, child rights promotion, non formal education…)
• Identify and acquire appropriate program materials for psychosocial activities
• Develop and supervise activities aiming protection / psychosocial support to most vulnerable children and families (individual approach). Identify and set up most appropriate responses and support mechanisms (self help, community support, support group, referral system…)
• Implement and manage parents / community awareness activities about psychosocial and protection issues/concerns related to children.
• Meet regularly with community leaders, NGOs, Go or any other relevant partner present in the field. Collect data, information and provide all necessary information ensuring good understanding of Tdh program and collaboration.
• Represent Tdh in coordination meeting related to protection and psychosocial intervention.
• Collaborate with team and community to further develop existing program activities
• Manage the whole program national staff and community volunteers involved in the project. Set up schedules, organise field / office worktime and team coordination mechanisms
• Responsible for providing staff and community volunteers the necessary support, training, and capacity building as appropriate throughout the various phases of the program
• Responsible for the overall logistics and administrative management of the program in collaboration with and under the supervision of logistic and administrative department.
• Together with selected national staff and volunteers, mobilize support for program interventions
• Monitor program activities and prepare reports as required by the Hq and Delegate.
• Provide technical support to the others expatriates when needed
à ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Collaborate with other team members on an updated situational analysis
• Lead the development of the Tdh Psychosocial and protection strategy in the country
• Identify local NGOs / CBOs for potential operational partnerships and collaboration.
• Identify potential donors, and produce project proposals in collaboration with other team members and Tdh HQ.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure that the Psychosocial and protection program is integrated with and complementary to other sectors.
• Initiate recruitment of local staff and draft terms of reference. Provide ongoing supervision and support, including regular and constructive feedback.
• Manage the Psychosocial and protection program budget.
• Serve as the Tdh representative on Psychosocial and protection issues in the country of deployment. Foster official relationships with Psychosocial and protection officials, UN agencies, donor agencies, international humanitarian organizations, local NGOs, and local government authorities.
• Prepare reports and briefings as needed, describing observations and assessments. Upon completion of the assignment, submit detailed handover notes.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Delegate.
à QUALIFICATION:
• University degree, preferably a graduate degree, in psychology, social work, education or related field of study.
• Three or more years of work in international development/ humanitarian assistance program, preferably in emergency context.
• Field experience and solid understanding of psychosocial / protection issues in such context
• Experience in team management and staff capacity building
• Extensive training experience.
• Demonstrated training materials development experience
• Research skills and experience
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluent in English
• Previous work experience in refugee/IDP settings, complex emergencies and/or post conflict / disaster situations
• Service-oriented and committed to providing support to field colleagues
à Additional Assets:
• Experience as a trainer;
• Previous experience working with international partners such as UNHCR, UNDP, UNICEF, OCHA, etc.;
• Experience with capacity building of local partners;
