The Norwegian Psychological Association (NPA)
is an officially recognized professional authority representing licensed psychologists in Norway.
NPA represents approximately 90% of all psychologists licensed to practise in Norway. The association has nearly 4 000 members of whom all have completed at least 6½ years university education as well as additional training in clinical psychology.
NPA
Is responsible for negotiating members’ salaries and safeguarding working-conditions in the public sector.
Protects the interests of Norwegian psychologists at their place of work.
Provides legal aid to its members, and defends their rights in industrial conflicts.
Distributes information regarding current remuneration levels and working-conditions.
Is responsible for the administration and management of an extensive postgraduate program leading to official accreditation as a specialist in clinical psychology.
Organizes postgraduate studies in collaboration with Norwegian universities.
Upholds the standard of professional psychology practised in both state institutions and other establishments.
Encourages and supports research furthering the development of psychology in different occupational fields.
Safeguards high ethical standards and demands a degree of professional excellence from its members.
Emphasizes the importance of incorporating research into the practise of psychology in different occupational fields.
Membership includes the following:
Subscription to the monthly “Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association” (Tidsskrift for Norsk Psykologforening).
Participation in a wide range of reasonably priced professional courses ensuring a continual update of current knowledge related to different occupational fields.
The right to participate in NPA’s regional activities and to represent the association at a regional, national and international level.
The opportunity to directly influence the development of the psychology profession in Norway.
The right to apply for mortgage and insurance packages at specially reduced rates!
